Rook & Rival Chess puts a real chess board in your chat, with every rule enforced and a real engine behind it. Chat models still suggest illegal moves and miss tactics; this app never does.

Play the computer: pick Beginner, Casual, Intermediate, Club or Strong club. Drag or tap pieces, see legal-move dots and the last move, flip the board, take back a move and change the level mid-game. The engine runs right on the board, so replies are instant. Every game gets a code and is saved for 30 days, so you can pick it up again from any chat.

Challenge a friend: get a link and send it. Your friend plays from that web page with no account, or from their own ChatGPT with the code. Moves appear live on both sides, with turn indicator, move history, draw offers and resignation. Ask "is it my move anywhere?" to see all your games.

Analyze: paste a FEN, a puzzle or a whole PGN. The engine gives its best lines with evaluation and mate announcements, and for a game it scores every move and points out the inaccuracies, mistakes and blunders, with a board you can step through and an evaluation bar. Explore your own ideas by moving pieces on the analysis board.

Games are stored only to let you and your opponent continue them, and expire after 30 days of inactivity.
